Development of innovative detection methods and analytical tools for rapid, cost-effective mycotoxin analysis

Our project will spearhead the development of innovative detection methods and analytical tools to enable rapid, cost-effective mycotoxin analysis, making it more accessible for resource-limited settings across Africa.

About the project

Starting point

The team will explore advanced analytical techniques, such as biosensors, lateral flow assays, and portable spectroscopic devices, to create user-friendly, field-deployable solutions for the detection and quantification of mycotoxins in food and feed samples.

Support from local communities

Close collaboration with local laboratories, extension services, and small-scale producers will guide the design and testing of these new analytical tools to ensure they are tailored to the specific needs and capacities of African stakeholders.

End result

The availability of affordable, rapid mycotoxin testing solutions will empower farmers, food processors, and regulatory agencies to effectively monitor and manage mycotoxin contamination, thereby improving food safety and security throughout the region.
